Embarassing top 10s?

thechristopherhundreds:

I’ve been plumbing the depths of the old mailing list and found, to my embarassment, a top ten song list from 1999. To my joy, I found some responses.

Me -

1 - XTC - Easter Theatre
2 - Joe Jackson - Song of Daedalus
3 - Ben Folds Five - The Last Polka
4 - Belle & Sebastian - If You’re Felling Sinister
5 - They Might Be Giants - New York City
6 - Smashing Pumpkins - Perfect
7 - Radiohead - Parinoid Android
8 - Red Hot Chili Peppers - Breaking the Girl
9 - Enigma - The Child In Us
10 - Erasure - Always

Andy (numbered, but “in no paticular order”) -

1. boards of canada - hi scores
2. bola - forcasa3
3. aphex twin - windowlicker
4. aphex twin - girl/boy song
5. global goon - afterlife
6. nin - a warm place
7. underworld - jumbo
8. placebo - slackerbitch
9. gescom - key nell
10. orbital - halcyon (live)

Luke

1. five iron frenzy - dandelions
2. u2 - still haven’t found what i’m looking for
3. rancid - radio
4. the clash - know your rights
5. fiona apple - never is a promise
6. catch22 - kristina she don’t know i exsist
7. fat boy slim - praise you
8. type o negative - love you to death
9. they might be giants - new york city
10. ben folds five - kate

The last two on my list are embarassing and most of the rest of it, while good, probably wouldn’t be on there still, but it’s funny. Luke’s is the worst. Unless Andy’s is. I don’t know most of those bands.

Wow! I’m actually revisiting most of that music right now. Like Chris, most of these picks I wouldn’t choose now, even though I still like the songs. I may have to put together a May 2008 list. I’d say the most embarassing on my list is Placebo.

Look at Chris, the Radiohead fan!
